Got another toy for the desk this year: Buckyballs. It gets a little addicting trying to make things out of them but be warned, don’t let these hang-out near your laptop…you might end up erasing that hard drive.

Extending the charge of the iPhone battery

TuneJuice connected to iPhone

Prior to a trip I took to San Francisco a couple months ago, I picked up Griffin’s “TuneJuice“, a handy device that keeps an iPhone charged using four AAA batteries. I’ve never really had a problem with battery-life on my iPhone, mostly since I don’t use it long enough, but I knew this trip was going to take awhile and didn’t want to have the iPhone die while watching some movies I downloaded.

Griffin states you’ll get 6-9 hours of additional video time (depending on the type of batteries I use) and 24-36 hours for music! Well, I didn’t get to put it to that test, but my iPhone battery did drain completely with about 45 minutes left in my trip. The TuneJuice worked perfectly although it was a bit clunky having it dangle from the connector cable. I’d love to see 3rd-party accessories like this integrate better with the devices they’re intended to improve, however, overall, I’m pretty pleased with this gadget.
